Performing well in school (and out of class e.g athletics) requires a combination of hard work, dedication, learning from mistakes and practice. I could summarize with a few tips, but not to mean the list is exhaustive.
      1. Attitude – be positive about chemistry and be willing to learn.
      2. Practise daily, remembering that the quality of the study time is important. Find a conducive environment for study time where you are unlikely to get interrupted
      3. Write things down – it helps to test your understanding, and for quick reference.
      4. Do your best work, taking time to draw your illustrations clearly during exams and writing out your formulas clearly. Remember you can only be scored if the examiner is able to read what you have written.
      5. Learn the material in small bits at a time and think about the stuff you have learnt over and over in the day
      6. Prepare for class and be active in class
      7. Read and re-read the material, take practise tests without checking the answers
      8. Ask where you need help and learn from your mistakes
      9. Relax on the test day
      10. Remember that you are more than just a grade. If its bad, don;t let it get you down, get up, dust yourself and try again. Take a larger view of the world and life. learning chemistry (or any other subject material) is important but what is most important is the process of learning it. You may not always remember the details of the things you learnt in your later life, but you will have learnt HOW to learn, and this you can use in different aspects of your life.
      Hope this makes sense.
All the very best in chemistry!
