      Good question , I see you already doing research…..Decomposition is aided by growth of bacteria which feed on the matter and in this case managu stem. Bacteria thrive in certain condition including specific temperature, absence or presence of certain gases etc. In this case, I think the polythene reduce the air access to the bacteria as well as increasing the temperature around the stem. This might be the ideal condition for the bacteria growth and consequently speed up the decomposition of the stem while inside the polythene as compared when left on the floor…..
