A neurologist is a specialist of the nervous system. They handle medical complaints that deal with the brain and spinal cord. This is a tough profession and I am happy to see you are interested in it.

Neurology is the branch of medicine that focuses on the study and treatment of diseases that affect the brain, spinal cord and nerves (e.g., stroke, schizophrenia, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis). It should however be emphasised that neurologists do not perform surgery. If one of their patients requires surgery, they refer them to a neurosurgeon, a person who is medically trained to perform such treatment.
