David Walumbe answered on 6 Jul 2017:

Our bodies have special chemical messengers called hormones which control bodily functions. Androgens are hormones responsible for the male features and reproduction though they are found in both males and in small quantities, in females. Certain medical conditions can cause a woman to produce too many androgens. This can cause male-like hair growth and other male characteristics, such as a deep voice.
